What Specific Foods Should You Avoid/ Limit



There are many types of foods you should avoid/limit when trying to stay healthy as an active teen. The biggest foods to avoid are ones loaded with a lot of fats. Although fats provide us with long term energy and act as protections for the body, too much fat could have negative affects on your body as well.

Fast Foods:
Fast foods should be avoided all together when it comes to healthy eating. Fast foods are usually chemically changed to make the cost cheaper. Fast food is also filled with empty calories, meaning they have a very low value of nutrition. Insulin is also made when food like this is consumed. One main job of insulin is to store fat, so eating too much fast food can be unhealthy. Fast food has the affect of making a person slower in activity so this type of food is bad for active teens.
Stay away from: Fast food
Instead try: Organic and less processed food

Also stray away from foods with refined sugars:
Refined sugar is sugar that is milled to get out all the small particles which makes them easier to absorb when you eat. Refined sugar gives you a short burst of energy that doesn't last long. Since theses burst of energy are not long your body craves and wants them more. Foods with lots of refined sugar are usually processed and high in fat. You want to have longer lasting energy so don't depend on refined sugars for that energy.

Instead try: Natural sugars like fruits



There are many foods you want to stay away from when being an active teen. You just have to remember to watch what you eat and how much you eat. Food is not bad for you when you eat in moderation, limit, and try to avoid the unhealthy. Learning what foods are good for you and not good for you will have great benefits for your body.
